Hi!

Hi! My name is Lola Oliverio. I am a recent graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Media and Communication Studies, with a concentration in rhetoric.

Throughout my time at UNC, I held various positions at The Daily Tar Heel, where I was the lifestyle desk editor during the 2025-26 school year, a city and state senior writer for several years and the summer city and state editor in 2024. I also worked at WXYC 89.3 FM, UNC's student-run freeform radio station, where I held a regular radio show for three years. I also contributed to their blog and interviewed numerous artists of varying genres.

Over the past few years, I have interned for North Carolina Health News, NPR-affiliated WUNC 91.5 and Triangle Media Partners. I attended UNC Charlotte for my first year of college, where I worked as the assistant editor for the opinion section of Niner Times, Charlotte’s student-run newspaper.

I am originally from the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area and found my passion for journalism through writing for my high school newspaper. I love writing about social issues, public health, local politics and music. I have a passion for telling stories about those frequently overlooked, whether it be an up-and-coming indie band or a piece of forgotten local history.

In my free time, I play guitar and love to attend concerts and do crossword puzzles.
